معرفی
Mary Slingo is a Research Fellow in the Department of Physiology, Anatomy and Genetics at the University of Oxford, funded by an MRC Clinical Academic Research Partnership (CARP) award. Concurrently, she serves as a Consultant Anaesthetist at University Hospital Southampton, specializing in major thoracic and vascular anaesthesia.
Her academic background includes:
- DPhil in Physiology of Oxygen-Sensing, University of Oxford (supervised by Prof. Peter Robbins)
Dr. Slingo's research centers on the physiology of hypoxia with specific focus on pulmonary circulation dynamics, bridging clinical anaesthesia practice with fundamental oxygen-sensing mechanisms. Her work investigates how oxygen deprivation pathways impact respiratory and cardiovascular function during critical surgical interventions, particularly in thoracic and vascular procedures requiring precise oxygen management.
She has received the MRC CARP award in recognition of her translational research potential.
Mary actively contributes to the Robbins Research Group at Oxford, which explores oxygen-sensing physiology and its clinical applications. Her dual clinical-academic role enables direct translation of laboratory findings into complex anaesthetic practice at University Hospital Southampton, where she applies physiological insights to optimize patient outcomes in high-risk surgeries.
