Mary Rogalski is Assistant Professor of Biology and Environmental Studies at Bowdoin College, investigating eco-evolutionary dynamics in aquatic systems impacted by environmental change. Her research examines how pollution and climate change drive evolutionary adaptations in zooplankton communities.
Using lake sediment archives and experimental approaches, Rogalski studies metal pollution impacts on Daphnia populations, including changes in hatching success, juvenile mortality, and adaptive responses. Current work explores parasite transmission in plankton communities and evolutionary consequences of salt pollution in freshwater ecosystems.
Teaching includes courses in ecotoxicology, environmental science, and biology. Research bridges ecology, evolution, and environmental science to understand anthropogenic impacts on aquatic biodiversity.
