Mary O'Sullivan is a Professor of Economic History at the University of Geneva, specializing in the history of capitalism and economic practices. Her research bridges macro-historical analysis with micro-level economic discourses, focusing on profit generation, capital controversies, and global commodity chains.

Her work critiques the historical neglect of capital in economic theory, addressing how economists' 'parables' shaped contemporary understandings of capital's role in society.
