Mary Hornick

Mary Hornick serves as Assistant Professor of Biological Sciences in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Roosevelt University's College of Science, Health and Pharmacy. She teaches Pathophysiology, Clinical Microbiology & Immunology, and specialized electives including 'Medicine or Menace: Introduction to Psychedelics' and Research in Neuropharmacognosy.

Her educational credentials include a PhD in Bioengineering from the University of Illinois at Chicago, an MS in Biomedical Sciences from Midwestern University, and dual undergraduate degrees (BS in Biological Sciences and BA in Russian Studies) from the University of Missouri - Columbia.

Dr. Hornick's research centers on neuropharmacological mechanisms, specifically investigating endothelin and endocannabinoid systems in neuronal development and neurovascular repair. She actively explores psychedelics' therapeutic potential for mental health disorders and substance abuse treatment, with expertise spanning Pathophysiology, Neuropharmacology, and Psychedelics.

She chairs the Pharmacy Curriculum Committee and serves on multiple institutional committees including Assessment, Foundational Sciences, Progression & Graduation, and CHSP Curriculum Committees. Dr. Hornick also represents the College of Pharmacy on the RU Student Learning Assessment Committee and Institutional Review Board.

Her academic affiliations include the Master’s in Integrated Biomedical Sciences program, where she contributes to curriculum development and student mentorship.
