Mary Erica Zimmer is a Lecturer in the Concourse Program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), focusing on early modern book history, bibliography, and digital humanities. She holds a PhD in Editorial Studies from Boston University (2019), with prior degrees from Boston University, the University of St. Andrews, and the University of Chicago. Her research emphasizes print cultures in early modern England, including projects like Browsing the Bookshops in St. Paul’s Churchyard—a digitized reconstruction of London’s pre-1666 publishing landscape—and a digital edition of Isaac Newton’s translation of The Book of Nicholas Flamel. She has received a Summer Residency at the Institute of English Studies in London and collaborates with institutions such as the Folger Shakespeare Library and MIT’s Distinctive Collections. Her work bridges material culture, literary annotation, and computational methods.
Education highlights include her doctorate at Boston University’s Editorial Institute and graduate work across multiple institutions.
