Mary Elizabeth Anderson is a Professor in the Chemistry Department at Furman University, where she has been since Fall 2018. Previously, she worked at Hope College (2010-2018) and conducted postdoctoral research at Penn State and Boston University.
- Ph.D., Pennsylvania State University
- B.S., Samford University
Her research focuses on bottom-up assembly of nanomaterials, particularly metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and thermoelectric materials. She integrates chemical self-assembly with lithography to create functional nanostructures for energy and medical applications.
Recent publications demonstrate expertise in:
- MOF thin film characterization
- Thermoelectric property analysis
- Molecular ruler-based nanolithography
- Surface passivation techniques
- Intermetallic nanoparticle synthesis
- Self-assembled monolayer applications
Key awards include:
- Henry Dreyfus Teacher-Scholar Award
- Multiple NSF and ACS grants
- NSF MRI funding for AFM equipment
Students in her lab gain interdisciplinary experience combining chemistry, physics, and engineering principles for nanomaterials development.
