Mary Chester-Kadwell

Mary Chester-Kadwell is a Senior Research Software Engineer at King’s Digital Lab, based within the Faculty of Arts & Humanities at King's College London. She holds a PhD in landscape archaeology and material culture of early-medieval England, employing GIS and computational methods. With over ten years of experience in software engineering, she has contributed to projects at institutions like the British Museum and University of Cambridge. Her work focuses on digital humanities, library special collections, and museum digitization. She actively promotes coding education and software engineering practices, serving as a Trustee of the Society of Research Software Engineering.

Key projects include the Social Dynamics of People's War (2024–2025), Alice Thornton's Books AT (2021–2024), and Language Acts and Worldmaking (2016–2021), a UKRI-funded initiative showcasing modern language research.
