Mary Beattie

Mary Beattie serves as Clinical Professor of Law and Director of Academic Support at the University of Connecticut School of Law, a position she assumed in 2018 after five years as an academic success counselor at the institution. Previously, she practiced law and served as assistant professor of legal skills at Quinnipiac School of Law while maintaining an active public defense practice.

Her educational qualifications include:

Professor Beattie specializes in legal education with dual expertise in academic support systems and appellate advocacy. Her work develops evidence-based methodologies for law student success in high-stakes examinations and legal writing, informed by her practical experience representing indigent clients through the Office of the Chief Public Defender. This integration of pedagogy and real-world practice creates robust frameworks for student development across doctrinal and skills-based curricula.
