Mary Beadle is a Professor in the Tim Russert Department of Communication and Theatre Arts at John Carroll University, where she also serves as Director of the graduate program and previously chaired the department. She holds a B.M. from Mary Manse College and M.A./Ph.D. degrees from Kent State University. Her academic leadership includes Dean of The Graduate School, where she established the annual Celebration of Scholarship and developed the Master’s in Non-Profit program via Council of Graduate Schools funding.

Her research focuses on media history, international media systems, and transnational journalism. Notable projects include documenting women’s contributions to local television history and analyzing media perceptions in Argentina. She has conducted fieldwork across 10+ countries and presented globally, including an upcoming 2017 conference in Dublin on transnational journalism.
Leadership roles span national communication associations: Chair of the Small College Interest Group (Central States Communication Association), Chair of the Senior College and University Section (National Communication Association), and leadership positions in Broadcast Education Association and Midwest Association of Graduate Schools. Awards include Walsh University’s Outstanding Teacher of the Year.
Her work integrates international outreach, having led communication seminars in South America, Hungary, Russia, and more. Current research explores transnational journalism trends and media’s role in global cultural exchange.
