Mary Bacon is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Physical Sciences Department at Ferris State University's College of Arts, Sciences and Education. She holds certifications from the American Society of Clinical Pathology as a medical technologist and contributes to forensic science education through course development and active learning workshops.

Her research focuses on forensic science applications, particularly in DNA typing and paper tear validation studies for questioned document analysis. She has collaborated on multiple conference presentations with the Midwestern Association of Forensic Scientists and the American Society of Questioned Document Examiners.
Mary Bacon co-authored educational materials including DO SOMETHING: The Art and Practice of Project-Based, Active Learning, Science and Crime: Active Learning in Forensic Science, and A Guide to Connect Learning to Performance. She serves as chapter advisor for the Epsilon Beta chapter of Phi Sigma Sigma sorority.
