Martyna Matusiak

Martyna Matusiak is an Associate Professor of Art at West Liberty University's Department of Media and Visual Arts within the College of Liberal and Creative Arts. She teaches courses in printmaking, drawing, mixed media, and art appreciation.

• Education: PhD candidate in Interdisciplinary Printmaking (2020, Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art & Design, Poland), MFA in Drawing with minor in Print Media & Video (2010, Indiana University of Pennsylvania), MA in Art Education (2007, University of Opole, Poland)

Research Interests focus on interdisciplinary printmaking, mixed media techniques, and multimedia/painting pedagogy. Her exhibitions explore contemporary art themes through personal and collaborative projects, often addressing cultural narratives and experimental print processes.

Professional Activities include organizing events for SGCI Conference, mentoring at SGC International, and conducting workshops on solar etching and experimental image transfers. She has participated in international residencies at Hungarian Multicultural Center (2013) and Distillery 6 (2011-2012).

Exhibitions span solo and group shows globally, including Portugal, Armenia, China, and Spain. Notable events: International Print Biennale Douro (2020), Standing in No Place: New Landscape of Motherhood (2016), and Divergent Ink (2017).

Labs/Teams: Active in WLU Creative Arts Therapy Club and WLU Printmaking initiatives. Collaborated with Nutting Gallery and Distillery 6 Artist Residency.
