Martyn Simmons serves as a Senior Lecturer at Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) within the Cambridge School of Creative Industries, Faculty of Arts, Humanities, Education and Social Sciences. As Course Leader for all undergraduate computer games courses, he leverages over 20 years of educational experience spanning school, further education, military training, and higher education sectors.
His academic background includes:
- MSc in Computing from Birmingham City University
- PGCE in Art and Design from Birmingham City University
- BA Combined Honors Art & Design with Information Systems from the University of Northampton
Research focuses on Mobile Games Development, Interactive Environments (VR/AR/MR), Art through Augmented Reality, and player psychology in gaming. His multidisciplinary expertise bridges 2D/3D art, game design, and programming, with emphasis on mobile platforms and immersive technologies.
He mentors student teams in national/international gaming competitions and teaches across ARU's Peterborough and Cambridge campuses, covering Computer Science for Mobile Game Development, Mobile Game Art Production, and Computer Games Technology programs.
