معرفی
Professor Martyn Lucas is a faculty member in the Department of Biosciences at Durham University. His research focuses on behavioral and physiological ecology of aquatic animals, conservation biology, fisheries management, and impacts of invasive species. He leads a group of 8 researchers and advises graduate students like Jacki Sime. His work spans freshwater, brackish, and marine systems, with collaborations in Europe, the USA, Korea, and West Africa.
Research interests include spatial behavior of fish, effects of pollutants, and river connectivity restoration. Key projects involve lamprey migration, invasive species management, and barrier mitigation strategies. He has contributed to over 150 peer-reviewed publications, including works on river fragmentation in the Mekong and conservation challenges in Bangladesh. His team addresses applied questions like fish passage efficiency and the ecological impacts of hydroelectric projects.
Recent publications highlight global river fragmentation issues, invasive species impacts, and stakeholder-driven conservation strategies in developing countries. He emphasizes integrating biotelemetry and environmental engineering to solve ecological challenges. Funding primarily comes from research councils and government agencies.
