Martyn Evans

Professor Martyn Evans is the Faculty Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Arts & Humanities and Director of the Manchester School of Art at Manchester Metropolitan University. He holds a Professorship in Design and has led numerous national and international projects on design futures, sustainability, and policy. His roles also include advisory positions with the UK Design Council and the Council for Higher Education in Art & Design.

Research Interests: Strategic design roles in sectors, design for sustainability, policy evaluation, and cultural heritage preservation. His projects include 'Design Ecologies' (China-UK collaboration) and 'Living Design' (sustainable maker enterprises). He emphasizes design’s capacity to drive innovation and shape societal futures.

Key Projects: AHRC-funded initiatives like 'Design Routes' and 'Mapping Design Innovation Ecosystems', and EU-supported 'Design for Europe'. His work bridges academia, policy, and industry to foster sustainable and culturally significant design practices.
