معرفی
Prof. Martyn Boutelle is a Professor in the Department of Bioengineering at Imperial College London's Faculty of Engineering, serving concurrently as Associate Provost (Estates Planning). His research focuses on biomedical sensor development, particularly electrochemical biosensors and microdialysis systems for real-time clinical monitoring in neurocritical care, organ transplantation, and musculoskeletal disorders. Key collaborations include work with neurosurgeons at King's College Hospital and surgeons at Imperial College on cerebral metabolism monitoring and post-transplant organ assessment. He leads COSBID (Cortical Spreading Depression in Brain Injury and Disease), investigating spontaneous brain depolarizations in traumatic injury. Notable contributions include wearable biosensors, microfluidic platforms, and AI-driven diagnostic tools for ALS and cardiac arrest.
- Education: PhD in Electrochemistry from Imperial College London, postdoctoral work at Oxford University
- Affiliations: Centre for Neurotechnology, Cancer Technology Network, Ovarian Cancer Tumour Heterogeneity and Bioengineering
- Research Themes: Neurochemical monitoring, organ-on-a-chip systems, multimodal biosensing integration
His articles highlight advancements in sensor technology for clinical applications, including 10-day continuous brain monitoring systems and non-invasive fasciculation detection for ALS diagnosis. Current projects explore ex vivo organ perfusion monitoring and portable diagnostic platforms.
