معرفی
Professor Marton Balazs is a Professor of Probability in the School of Mathematics at the University of Bristol, specializing in Probability, Analysis and Dynamics. He holds a PhD and multiple MSc degrees and maintains an active research profile with 33 research outputs to date.
His research interests span several interconnected areas within probability theory and statistical physics. Balazs focuses on stochastic processes, particularly interacting particle systems and growth models. His work includes the construction of complex stochastic processes, microscopic analysis of shocks in hydrodynamic limits, current fluctuations related to the KPZ equation, and last passage percolation models. He has made significant contributions to understanding the unconventional scaling properties (time 1/3 instead of square-root scaling) in interacting particle systems.
His recent publications demonstrate a strong focus on geodesic structures in last passage percolation, road networks within the KPZ class, and hydrodynamic limits of zero range processes. These works consistently explore the connections between combinatorial structures, probabilistic methods, and physical phenomena. Balazs has developed sophisticated probabilistic approaches, including second-order coupling arguments and combinatorial identities, to establish rigorous results in these challenging areas.
As Principal Investigator, Balazs leads two major research projects: 'Particle systems, growth models and their probabilistic structures' (2022-2025) and the completed 'Stochastic interacting systems: connections, fluctuations and applications' (2018-2022). He has also maintained significant international collaborations, including visiting positions at the Alfred Renyi Institute of Mathematics (2013) and Budapest University of Technology and Economics (2006-2013).
