Martina Klausner

Martina Klausner is Professor of Digital Anthropology and Science and Technology Studies at the Institute for Cultural Anthropology and European Ethnology, Goethe University Frankfurt. Her research explores the sociocultural dimensions of digital technologies, focusing on datafication, urban governance, healthcare, and disability rights. She is actively involved in interdisciplinary research networks and leads externally funded projects on digital infrastructures and AI regulation.

Her research interests lie at the intersection of anthropology and technology, particularly in:

• Digital and datafication processes in cities and governance

• Disability participation rights and legal mobilization
• AI and algorithmic governance in finance and healthcare
• Collaborative and interventionist ethnographic practices

Notable scientific contributions include leadership in the DFG-funded project on data politics in Frankfurt’s mobility transition and a Hessian-funded project on AI normativity. She is Principal Investigator in the Graduate Research Training Group Fixing Futures: Technologies of Anticipation and a member of the ERC panel for Social Sciences and Humanities.

Martina Klausner supervises doctoral researchers and collaborates extensively with scholars in law, philosophy, computer science, and medicine. She has led interdisciplinary teams in projects on tele-rehabilitation, psychiatric care, and urban environmental data.
