معرفی
Martina Di Rita serves as an Associate Professor in the Interuniversity Department of Territorial Sciences, Planning and Policies (DIST) at Politecnico di Torino, with primary research focus on geospatial technologies for environmental monitoring. Her academic affiliation extends to the National Doctorate in Earth Observation at the University of Rome "La Sapienza" as an invited member of the Planning and Design College.
Her research expertise spans 3D modeling, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geomatics, Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing, Satellite Image Processing, and UAV Photogrammetry. These interests directly support UN Sustainable Development Goals 9 (Industry Innovation), 11 (Sustainable Cities), 13 (Climate Action), and 15 (Life on Land), with particular emphasis on glacier dynamics in Alpine environments and sustainable infrastructure development. Her methodological innovations integrate multi-source geospatial data for precision environmental assessment.
Recent publications (2020-2025) reveal a concentrated research trajectory in UAV-based glacier monitoring, particularly focused on Italy's Forni Glacier, alongside applications in construction site management. This work demonstrates consistent innovation in data fusion techniques combining UAV photogrammetry, GNSS tracking, satellite imagery, and BIM systems to address climate change impacts and infrastructure challenges in complex terrains.
Her scientific recognition includes:
- AUTeC Award from the Association of University Students of Topography and Cartography, Italy (2018)
As an educator, she lectures in Master's programs for Environmental and Land Management Engineering, teaching core courses in Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems. She serves as Course Lecturer for the Digital Skills for Sustainable Societal Transitions program and participates in doctoral education through the National Doctorate in Earth Observation. Her teaching spans both Politecnico di Torino and collaborations with University of Rome "La Sapienza".
Her research activities are coordinated through SDG11Lab (DIST), which focuses on sustainable urban development solutions aligned with UN Goal 11. This laboratory serves as the operational base for her glacier monitoring projects and UAV data processing initiatives.
