Martin Singh is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Earth, Atmosphere & Environment, Monash University. His research focuses on atmospheric dynamics and climate change, particularly the influence of cloud and precipitation processes on large-scale circulations, including tropical overturning circulations, monsoon systems, and precipitation extremes under global warming. He is a Chief Investigator in major ARC-funded projects like the ARC Centre of Excellence for The Weather of the 21st Century and leads studies on tropical thunderstorms and climate connections in Australian weather patterns.
His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) related to climate action and sustainable cities. Key projects include analyzing pan-tropical climate connections, the vertical structure of tropical circulations, and the impact of climate change on Australian monsoons.
Martin has been recognized with the 2019 Faculty of Science Award for Excellence in Research (Early Career). He actively supervises PhD and honours students, offering opportunities in tropical atmospheric dynamics. His teaching includes courses on the general circulation of the atmosphere and atmospheric physics.
His research outputs span over 37 peer-reviewed articles, with recent studies exploring tropical convective organization, moisture budgets in Australian rainfall, and the thermal structure of the tropical troposphere. Collaborations span international institutions, advancing understanding of climate systems and their future projections.
