Martin Schoenhals is a Research Professor in the Department of Anthropology at Appalachian State University. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1991 and holds a B.A. from the University of Chicago (1983). His office is located in Anne Belk Hall, Room 348.
Research Focus: Dr. Schoenhals specializes in interdisciplinary anthropological studies with emphasis on:
- Sociocultural dynamics and educational systems
- Psychological dimensions of gender, sexuality, and labor
- Structural analysis of race, caste, and prejudice
- Development studies with regional expertise in China and India
