معرفی
Martin Schmaltz is a Professor at Boston University’s Department of Physics, specializing in particle physics and cosmology. His research focuses on exploring physics beyond the Standard Model, particularly in dark sectors, leptoquarks, and resolving cosmological tensions like the Hubble Tension. He leads the BU cosmology group, investigating dark matter interactions and their implications for galaxy clustering and cosmic expansion.
Education: Ph.D. and M.S. in Physics from University of California, San Diego; Vordiplom in Physics and Mathematics from Göttingen University.
Research Interests: Schmaltz examines dark matter interactions, leptoquark phenomenology, and cosmological anomalies. Recent work includes modeling 'stepped radiation' in dark sectors to address the Hubble Tension and analyzing leptoquarks as potential explanations for lepton flavor universality violations observed at LHCb and Belle. His group also explores dark radiation and primordial element abundances linked to neutrino mixing.
Key Achievements: Recipient of DOE Outstanding Junior Investigator Award (2002), Sloan Research Fellowship (2004), and Humboldt Research Award (2023). His work bridges particle physics and cosmology, influencing both theoretical frameworks and experimental strategies.
Advising & Grants: Supervises graduate student Eashwar Sivarajan and postdoc Nick DePorzio. His research has been supported by grants addressing cosmological tensions and collider phenomenology.
Labs/Teams: Active in the Boston University cosmology group, collaborating on interdisciplinary projects combining astrophysics, particle physics, and cosmological data analysis.
