Dr. Martin Savransky is a Reader in Social and Environmental Thought at the University of Bath's Department of Social & Policy Sciences and a member of the Institute of Sustainability and Climate Change. His work bridges philosophy, environmental humanities, and global social theory to address planetary instability and socioenvironmental transformations. He holds a PhD from Goldsmiths, University of London (2014) and has held visiting positions at institutions including Leibniz Institute of Ecological Urban and Regional Development and Leuphana University Lüneburg. His research focuses on decolonial approaches to climate adaptation, pluriversal politics, and critical Anthropocene studies. He has authored/co-edited works such as Around the Day in Eighty Worlds (2021) and co-edited Speculative Research: The Lure of Possible Futures (2017). His teaching includes pioneering climate change and environmental justice programs. He currently serves as Honorary Professor at Goldsmiths and holds international research fellowships.
Research interests include exploring how modernity shapes planetary challenges and how communities craft resilient futures amid environmental crises. His work emphasizes Southern Theory perspectives and transformative ethics in social inquiry.
