Martin P. Paulus is a Professor at the Oxley College of Neuroscience, University of Tulsa, and serves as Scientific Director and President of the Laureate Institute for Brain Research (LIBR) in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He is a clinician-researcher with a career dedicated to understanding mental health and brain science through advanced imaging techniques.
- Education: M.D. from Johannes Gutenberg University, Mainz, Germany.
His research focuses on the neural mechanisms underlying mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and substance use disorders, utilizing functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) to identify novel treatment targets and prognostic biomarkers. Dr. Paulus has extensive experience in clinical trials and pharmacology, with expertise developed during training at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center and UCSD, as well as his tenure at the Veterans Affairs San Diego Health Care System.
At LIBR, where he has been instrumental since joining in May 2014, he leads efforts to explore these conditions across diverse populations. His work bridges psychiatry and neuroscience, emphasizing translational research to improve patient outcomes.
