Martin Harvey Haugland

Martin Harvey Haugland is an enrolled PhD student and guest lecturer at the SAXO Institute within the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Copenhagen, concurrently serving as a PhD Fellow at the Institute for Strategy and War Studies, Royal Danish Defence College. His academic work centers on military history and security policy with specializations in World War II, Cold War history, and Central and Eastern European historical dynamics.

His published research examines pivotal European military-diplomatic crises, notably the 1938 Sudeten Crisis between Nazi Germany and Czechoslovakia. This work reflects consistent analytical themes: military strategy evolution, superpower security paradigms, and the interplay between historical memory and contemporary policy-making in European conflict contexts.

Haugland's PhD project receives funding from the Independent Research Fund Denmark (DFF) under supervision of Associate Professor Morten Rasmussen (University of Copenhagen) and Niels Bo Poulsen (Royal Danish Defence College).
