Martin Härter

Martin Härter is Director of the Institute and Polyclinic for Medical Psychology at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE). His research focuses on epidemiology of mental disorders in physical illnesses, integrated care models, and patient-centered communication.

Härter's research addresses:

• Comorbidity of mental and physical disorders
• Development of collaborative care models for depression
• Implementation of shared decision-making in clinical practice
• Quality improvement in psychosocial care
• Patient-centered care measurement

He leads major research initiatives including the COMET trial on stepped care for mental disorders and development of assessment tools for organizational health literacy. His work informs national clinical guidelines for depression treatment in Germany.

Härter coordinates international collaborations on patient-centered care and leads the Center for Psychosocial Medicine at UKE, integrating research, teaching, and clinical services in medical psychology.
