معرفی
Martin Gardner, MD, FRCPC, is a Professor in the Division of Cardiology, Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine at Dalhousie University, with additional affiliation in the Department of Physiology and Biophysics. He practices at the QEII Health Sciences Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where he has made transformative contributions to cardiac care.
His research focuses on inherited heart diseases and the genetic basis of heart rhythm disorders, with a strong emphasis on early diagnosis and prevention. Dr. Gardner pioneered the integration of genetics into clinical cardiology in Canada, significantly improving outcomes for families with hereditary cardiac conditions.
He founded the Inherited Heart Disease Clinic at the QEII in 2004—the first of its kind in Canada—enabling comprehensive screening, diagnosis, and management for at-risk families. His work has led to the identification of inherited conditions in thousands of patients who might otherwise have gone undiagnosed.
Dr. Gardner was honored with the Heart of Gold Professional Award in 2017 by the QEII Health Sciences Foundation, recognizing his exceptional contributions to advancing world-class cardiac care in Atlantic Canada.
