Martin Fodstad Stølen

Martin Fodstad Stølen is an Associate Professor at the Department of Computer Science, Electrical Engineering and Mathematical Sciences, Western Norway University of Applied Sciences. He is part of the HVL Robotics research group and serves as Founder and Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) of Fieldwork Robotics Ltd in Norway. His research focuses on soft (variable-stiffness) robotics, machine learning applications, and human factors in robotics, with practical emphasis on selective harvesting in horticulture.

Teaching responsibilities include courses such as ELE306 Robotics, DAT160 Intelligent Robots, and ING104 Engineering Professional Practice. He also supervises master’s theses (ADA599) and teaches ADA526 Applied Robot Prototyping.

Research interests span interdisciplinary areas combining robotics with agricultural automation, emphasizing real-world problem solving through advanced technologies.
