Martin Eckhoff Andresen is a Tenure-track Associate Professor at the Department of Economics, University of Oslo, and an IZA Research Affiliate. His research focuses on applied econometrics, labor economics, family economics, public policy, and education. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Oslo (2017), a Master in Economics (2013), and a Bachelor in International Studies (2008). Previously, he served as a Senior Research Economist at Statistics Norway (2017–2022).
His research explores topics such as child penalties in labor markets, the economic impacts of parental leave policies, and the effects of childcare access. Notably, he has evaluated the consequences of high school dropout on labor market outcomes and analyzed firm responses to corporate tax rules. Andresen has contributed Stata software tools like mtefe and mvttest, aiding in marginal treatment effect estimation and econometric testing.
He leads the project Behavioral Adjustments, Income Volatility, and Attention to Tax and Benefits Schedule (NOK 8m funding, 2024–2028), examining how income volatility affects tax compliance. His work has been featured in outlets like Journal of Labor Economics, Econometrics Journal, and Economics of Education Review, with media coverage in The Economist, Libération, and The Weeds.
