Martin Coath

Dr. Martin Coath serves as an Associate Lecturer within the Doctoral College at the University of Plymouth, alongside roles as a Senior Researcher at the University of Lapland’s Arctic Centre and an Academic Adviser for education projects at Canterbury Christ Church University. With prior experience across multiple institutions including the Universities of Essex, Nottingham, and Reading, his career spans research, teaching, and academic advising.

His research interests evolved from computational neuroscience—focusing on neural models of auditory systems—to climate change, educational research, and public engagement. Current work emphasizes transdisciplinary collaboration, climate service development for winter tourism in Northern Finland, and science communication in educational settings.

Key projects include co-designing the SnowApp climate service and developing educational tools like the How Scientific is that? guide. He actively bridges academic and business sectors through climate-related case studies and roadshows.

Publications span neurocomputational models of perception, climate service frameworks, and educational methodologies. His transdisciplinary approach addresses global challenges such as sustainability and science literacy.
