Professor Martin Bricknell is a Professor in Conflict, Health, and Military Medicine at King’s College London, affiliated with the School of Security Studies and Department of War Studies. He retired from the UK Defence Medical Services after 34 years, serving as Surgeon General of the UK Armed Forces. His research focuses on healthcare in conflict zones, military health systems, and organizational learning. He has published over 150 papers and leads the King’s Centre for Military Ethics and Conflict & Health Research.
Education includes a PhD in Military Health Services, MBA, MA in Defence Studies, and multiple medical degrees. Awards include the Companion of the Order of Bath and US Bronze Star. His work addresses global health security, pandemic responses, and ethical frameworks in military healthcare. He collaborates internationally on projects like NATO medical advisement, and his initiatives include developing ethics education tools like the Military Ethics Playing Cards app.
