Martin Bazant

Martin Z. Bazant is the Chevron Professor of Chemical Engineering and Professor of Applied Mathematics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he leads research in electrochemical physics, energy storage, and transport phenomena. He holds joint appointments across disciplines and serves as Digital Learning Officer for MIT Chemical Engineering.

His research spans electrochemical systems including batteries, fuel cells, separations, and critical minerals recovery, with strong emphases on modeling, simulation, and data analytics. Key innovations include shock electrodialysis for selective ion separations and physics-based battery degradation models.
