معرفی
Prof. Martin Arguin is a Full Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Montreal (Faculty of Arts and Sciences). His research focuses on cognitive aspects of visual processing, including mechanisms in normal individuals and those with neurological impairments. He investigates temporal characteristics of visual processing, attention, and visual recognition of objects and words.
Affiliations: Member of CERNEC (Neuropsychology and Cognition Research Center), CRIUGM (Geriatric Research Institute), and multiple Quebec-based research networks. He has led grants totaling over CAD 5 million, including projects on visual shape perception and dyslexia.
Teaching: Courses in Perception and Sensory Neuroscience. Supervises graduate students in cognitive psychology and neuropsychology. Recent advisees include Gabriela Chavdarova (2024) and Mélanie Lévesque (2023).
Research Trends: Recent work emphasizes oscillatory mechanisms in visual processing and aging effects. Key projects include optimizing fonts for dyslexia and studying spatio-temporal dynamics in reading.
Grants: Current funding includes a 2022-2028 NSERC grant on visual shape perception (CAD 1.2M) and a 2014-2023 project on 3D shape recognition (CAD 850K).
Labs/Teams: Heads the Visual Cognition Lab. Collaborates with institutions like the CRIUGM and GRSV vision research group.
