Martin Andrew is a Senior Lecturer in Youth and Community Work at the University of Huddersfield's Department of Education, within the School of Business, Education and Law. His role includes teaching on the BA (Hons) Youth and Community Work course, as well as modules on Leadership and Management, Child Development, Methodologies, and Strategies to Learning. He is a member of the Huddersfield Centre for Research in Education and Society (HudCRES).
His research focuses on NEET young people, socioeconomic influences on youth development, and social-emotional learning in schools. His work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly addressing inequalities and quality education. Martin has prior experience in youth work across voluntary sectors and local authorities, leading street-based teams and managing youth workers. He has also contributed to media discussions on supporting marginalized youth, including a 2018 commentary with the British Psychological Society.
Martin’s expertise bridges academic research and practical community engagement, emphasizing vulnerable youth populations and systemic challenges in education and social environments.
