Martha Tyrone is an Associate Professor in the Department of Hearing, Speech, and Language Sciences at Gallaudet University, part of the Human Services and Sciences school. She specializes in sign language phonetics, motor speech disorders, and neurogenic language disorders. Her research integrates kinematic analysis with clinical linguistics, focusing on ASL phonetics, Parkinson’s disease impacts on signing, and phonetic reduction in sign languages. She teaches courses such as HSL-714 Speech Science and HSL-753 Motor Speech Disorders. Her work is affiliated with Gallaudet’s Technology Access Program (TAP) and Visual Language and Visual Learning (VL2) research centers.
