Martha Swift is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Rothermere American Institute and Coordinator of the Environmental Humanities Research Hub at the Oxford Research Centre in the Humanities. She completed her DPhil in Oxford’s Faculty of English in 2024.
Her research focuses on:
- Anglophone autofiction and its intersection with world literature
- Diasporic authorship and transnational interconnection
- Environmental humanities and the Anthropocene
- Narratological theory in contemporary fiction
- Waste studies in Chinese science fiction
Her work challenges assumptions about global literary networks and the role of writers in addressing planetary crises. She is currently finalizing her first monograph, The World of Autofiction, which examines collective world-making in 21st-century multi-ethnic American literature.
