Marta Prato is an Assistant Professor of Economics at Bocconi University, with affiliations as a Research Affiliate at the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) and an Affiliate at the Innocenzo Gasparini Institute for Economic Research (IGIER). During the 2025-2026 academic year, she will serve as a Visiting Fellow at Stanford University's Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research (SIEPR).

Her research focuses on long-run macroeconomic trends, including:
- Economic growth and innovative human capital allocation
- Productivity dynamics across countries
- Long-run inequality and residential segregation
- Intergenerational mobility and welfare-enhancing policies
She received the EEA and Unicredit Job Market Best Paper Award in 2021 and participated in the Review of Economic Studies Tour in 2022.
