Marta Guerra Rebollo

Marta Guerra Rebollo is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Bioengineering at IQS School of Engineering, Universitat Ramon Llull. She is also the Coordinator of the Bachelor’s Degree in Biotechnology at IQS and a member of the GEMAT (Materials Engineering Group), which focuses on functional materials, surface engineering, and biomaterials.

Her research focuses on advanced delivery systems for gene and RNA therapeutics, particularly for monogenic and oncological diseases. Key areas include polymer-coated adeno-associated viruses (AAVs) for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, mRNA nanovaccines for cancer immunotherapy, and localized siRNA delivery for antitumor therapy. Her work integrates biomaterials design with preclinical evaluation of toxicity, biodistribution, and efficacy.

Recent publications highlight innovations in immune-evasive viral vectors, PET-guided pharmacokinetic tracking of gene carriers, and lymph node-targeted mRNA vaccines. These reflect a strong trend toward non-viral and hybrid delivery platforms with clinical translation potential.

Her research is supported by grants from Fundació La Marató de TV3 and the Departament de Recerca i Universitats. She collaborates extensively within interdisciplinary teams focused on nanomedicine and bioengineering solutions.

She is affiliated with the GEMAT research group, which develops functional materials and biomaterials for therapeutic applications. The group supports programs in Biotechnology, Biomedical Sciences, and Bioengineering at IQS.
