Prof. Marta Gmurek is the youngest professor at the Institute of General and Ecological Chemistry, Faculty of Chemistry, Lodz University of Technology, specializing in chemical engineering. She holds an h-index of 23 (Web of Science, 2015–2025) and has authored 64 publications cited over 2,056 times in this period.
Her research focuses on degradation of xenobiotic compounds, particularly endocrine-disrupting substances and pharmaceuticals, using reactive oxygen species via advanced oxidation processes and photosensitization. She also investigates water quality and sustainable closed-loop water management systems.
Prof. Gmurek has led projects funded by the National Science Centre (NCN), National Centre for Research and Development (NCBiR), and international grants. She has completed internships at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (Germany), University of Coimbra (Portugal), and Charles University in Prague (Czech Republic).
Key scientific accolades include:

- Two-time START scholarship from the Foundation for Polish Science
- PAN Łódź Award for Outstanding Young Scientists

She co-authored two national patents and one European patent, and currently supervises two doctoral candidates in the Interdisciplinary Doctoral School. She holds leadership roles in the Chemical and Process Engineering Committee of PAN and the Young Academy of Europe (since 2023).
