Marta Fadda is a senior researcher and lecturer in Biomedical Ethics at the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences, Università della Svizzera italiana. She is also an Affiliate of the Center for Bioethics at Harvard Medical School. Her roles include clinical study coordination, research ethics, and teaching in medical ethics programs. She holds a PhD in Health Communication from USI, a Master of Bioethics from Harvard University, and a Master in Cultural Anthropology from SOAS, University of London.
Her research focuses on biomedical ethics, clinical ethics, public health ethics, and the intersection of new technologies with healthcare. Key areas include vaccine hesitancy, genetic privacy, participant-led research, informed consent, and ethical challenges in medical decision-making for vulnerable populations.
Her work spans qualitative and quantitative methodologies, addressing topics like fever phobia, pediatric neuromuscular diseases, and pandemic-related mental health. She actively contributes to ethics committees, including the COMEC and USI/SUPSI Research Ethics Commissions, and is a core member of the Early Career Bioethicists Network in Switzerland.
Her advisory and grant activities include projects on public health ethics, digital health platforms, and health literacy. She collaborates with institutions like the Health Ethics and Policy Lab at ETH Zurich and the Swiss School of Public Health (SSPH+).
