معرفی
Marta Castelli is an Associate Professor in the Department of Structural, Building and Geotechnical Engineering (DISEG) at Politecnico di Torino, Italy. She is actively involved in research and teaching in geotechnical engineering, with a focus on landslide hazard and risk, rock and soil mechanics, and slope stability.
Her research interests include:
- Landslide hazard and risk assessment
- Rock fracture mechanics
- Soil and rock mechanics
- Slope stability under climate change effects (e.g., permafrost melting)
- Development of GIS-based tools for geohazard modeling
Recent publications highlight her work on freeze-thaw effects on rock strength, rockfall propagation modeling, parameter calibration for landslide modeling, and the development of QGIS plugins for preliminary landslide risk assessment. Her research integrates field studies, laboratory testing, and numerical modeling, with applications in alpine and urban environments.
Scientific participations include:
- Effective member, Italian Geotechnical Association (1996–present)
- Effective member, International Society for Rock Mechanics (1996–present)
- Program Committee Member, IACMAG, FOSS4G-IT, and MIR conferences
She supervises PhD students, including Giulia Torsello, and teaches courses at bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels in civil and environmental engineering. She leads commercial research projects related to geohazard assessment and infrastructure safety, demonstrating strong industry engagement and applied research impact.
