Marshall Klimasewiski

Marshall Klimasewiski is a Teaching Professor in the Department of English at Washington University in St. Louis, where he has taught since 1999. He holds an MFA from Bowling Green State University and an MA from Boston University. His research focuses on Fiction Writing, including story sequences, composite novels, intertextual genres, and historical fiction. He teaches courses like Graduate Fiction Workshop and Craft of Fiction modules on topics such as historical fiction and dialogue.

His works include the novel The Cottagers and the story collection Tyrants, published by W.W. Norton. His fiction appears in The New Yorker, Atlantic Monthly, and journals like Conjunctions and New England Review. He has received prestigious awards including a Guggenheim Fellowship and NEA grants.

His recent experimental work merges fictional and nonfictional practices, creating collages from archival documents to reconstruct overlooked narratives of writers and artists. He is affiliated with Washington University’s Writing Program and resides in St. Louis.
