Marsha Weisiger

Marsha Weisiger is an Associate Professor of History and the Julie and Rocky Dixon Chair of U.S. Western History at the University of Oregon's College of Arts and Sciences. She serves as Co-Director of the Center for Environmental Futures and specializes in environmental history, focusing on the interplay between humans and the natural world, particularly in the American West.

• Research explores U.S. Western history, Native American communities, and conservation policy
• Current projects include three planned books on western rivers: "Danger River," "The River Runs Wild," and the interdisciplinary "Living Rivers"

Her work emphasizes environmental and social justice, with a commitment to creating usable histories for sustainable futures. She has authored Dreaming of Sheep in Navajo Country (University of Washington Press), analyzing the cultural and ecological impacts of New Deal-era livestock reduction policies on the Navajo Reservation.
