Marrit Tholen

Marrit Tholen is a doctoral candidate and teaching assistant (TA) at the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), affiliated with the Molecular Biosensing for Diagnostics (MBx) group and Nanoscopy for Nanomedicine research institute. Her work bridges Applied Physics and Biomedical Engineering disciplines.

Her research focuses on developing super-resolution microscopy probes for nanoparticle characterization, with specific applications in:

• Glycan remodeling for biosensing
• Lectin-PAINT for glycocalyx visualization
• Stomatocyte nanoreactors with enzyme-triggered dynamic assemblies
• Antibody orientation on antifouling polymers

Marrit contributes to open-source tools like nanoFeatures, while her publications demonstrate expertise in single-molecule tracking, pH-responsive colloids, and glycosylation heterogeneity in cancer cells. She actively participates in educational activities including CBL Microscopy and OGO The Lab in courses.
