Marnie Galloway is a Lecturer in the Department of Painting and Drawing at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC). She is an award-winning cartoonist and artist, best known for her Xeric Award-winning wordless graphic novel In the Sounds and Seas, as well as works like Burrow, Particle/Wave, and Slightly Plural. Her comics have been featured in The New York Times, Best American Comics, and MUTHA Magazine.
Her professional experience includes roles as designer and art director at Cicada and Muse magazines (Cricket Magazine Group), and as an organizer of the Chicago Alternative Comics Expo (CAKE). She currently contributes science comics to Ask Magazine and is developing a new graphic novel.
- Teaching: Undergraduate comics courses focusing on narrative storytelling and visual composition.
- Practice: Combines traditional ink techniques with experimental approaches to visual narrative.
