Marleen Marra is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at Sciences Po. She is also a Research Affiliate at the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR). Her research focuses on structural analysis of industries and bidding markets, using game theory and econometric models to inform public policy. Key areas include auction design, procurement mechanisms, and applications in transportation and digital platforms.
Marleen holds a PhD from University College London (UCL), an MRes in Economics from UCL, and an MSc in Economics from Tilburg University. She has held visiting scholar positions at Yale University and has collaborated with institutions like the World Bank and the European Commission. Her work emphasizes policy-relevant insights, such as optimizing airport slot allocation, prison telecommunications procurement, and transportation market efficiency.
Teaching includes graduate courses on Empirical Industrial Organization at Sciences Po’s School of Research and Competition Policy at the School of Management and Impact. Her research has been supported by grants and featured in leading journals like the Journal of Political Economy and International Journal of Industrial Organization.
Marleen’s current projects explore two-sided entry in auction platforms, spatial competition in London’s bus market, and policy frameworks for maritime emissions. She actively contributes to academic networks and policy dialogues to bridge theoretical and practical challenges in market design.
