Markus Trämer is an Adjunct Professor at the Department of Social Sciences, Eberhard Karls University Tuebingen, within the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences. He is part of the Associate Professorship of Policy Analysis and Political Economy led by Prof. Daniel Buhr. Since 2016, he has been conducting doctoral studies while serving as a research assistant. His academic career includes teaching roles such as convening student tutorials for 'Introduction to Political Science' (2013–2015) and leading seminars on Political Economy and Political Science between 2016–2020. He holds a First State Examination (2015) and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, with a thesis examining comparative advantages and the global financial crisis in (South)East Asia. He has completed study exchanges at the University of New South Wales and Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
His research focuses on (Comparative) Welfare States, Comparative Capitalisms, Innovation Systems, Autocracy Analysis, and Political Economics. He participates in projects like 'LebensPhasenHaus' (Interreg), 'TAAFE' (Age-Friendly Alpine Space), and 'ACSELL' (SME innovation). His work explores digitalization of welfare systems in Europe, institutional dynamics in authoritarian regimes, and the interplay between political economy and social innovation.
Trämer has contributed to high-impact publications analyzing Welfare 4.0 concepts across Germany, the UK, and beyond. His recent work addresses digital transformation in healthcare, labor markets, and innovation policy. He actively participates in conferences, presenting on topics such as institutional complementarities in authoritarian economies and demographic change's market opportunities. His research bridges theoretical frameworks with applied policy analysis in European contexts.
