Markus Seidl

Markus Seidl is a Professor at the University of Applied Sciences St. Pölten where he serves as Academic Director of the Creative Computing Bachelor program. He has been active in academia since 2004 and was appointed as an FH Professor in 2011.

Professor Seidl specializes in computer vision and pattern recognition with a strong focus on digital heritage applications. His research bridges technology and cultural preservation, creating interactive experiences that make historical artifacts accessible to modern audiences. He has particular expertise in developing multi-touch tabletop applications for museum settings that engage young visitors.

His notable achievements include collaborative work with archaeologists on digital documentation of cave/rock art (2010-2016), for which he received the prestigious Europa Nostra Award in 2016. Currently, he leads the Media Computing Research Group and is exploring how to integrate visitors' personal devices into museum digital ecosystems.
