Prof. Dr. Markus Müller-Olm is a faculty member at the University of Münster, affiliated with the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science, Department of Computer Science. He has been teaching at the university since the winter semester 2005/06 and previously held positions at Universität Dortmund and FernUni Hagen.
His primary research interests include:
- Program Analysis
- Compiler and Program Verification
- Concurrency and Process Algebra
- Model Checking
- Static and Abstract Interpretation
- Software Verification
His research lies at the intersection of theoretical computer science and practical software reliability, with a strong emphasis on formal methods for ensuring correct system behavior. He has contributed significantly to the field through tutorials, invited lectures, and leadership roles in major conferences.
Prof. Müller-Olm has served on the program committees of numerous prestigious international conferences such as POPL, CAV, VMCAI, SAS, ESOP, and ICALP, and has co-chaired key events including VMCAI 2009 and SAS 2014. He has also co-organized Dagstuhl seminars on software verification and shape analysis, highlighting his leadership in the research community.
He is actively involved in academic service, including student counseling and jury duties for national computer science competitions like the Bundeswettbewerb Informatik (BWINF). His work is associated with DFG-funded initiatives such as the SPP RS3 (Reliably Secure Software Systems), indicating ongoing research funding and collaborative projects.
He has delivered invited tutorials at prominent venues including MOVEP, Security Spring School, and the Estonian Winter School in Computer Science, further establishing his role as an educator and thought leader in program analysis and verification.
