معرفی
Markus Muhr is an Academic Lecturer at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), affiliated with the Chair of Numerical Analysis under Prof. Barbara Wohlmuth. He specializes in numerical methods for fluid dynamics, acoustics, and seismic engineering. His research focuses on computational biomedical fluid mechanics, nonlinear acoustics, and seismology, with applications in cerebral aneurysm treatment simulations and earthquake impact modeling. Muhr actively contributes to teaching, including courses on numerical methods, programming, and finite element techniques. He has received the Goldener Zirkel award twice for excellence in digital teaching and exercise coordination.
Research Interests
- Numerical simulation of cerebral aneurysm coiling using finite element and lattice-Boltzmann methods.
- Nonlinear wave equations (e.g., Westervelt/Kuznetsov) for high-intensity focused ultrasound in medical treatments.
- Seismic wave propagation modeling, including full-source-to-site simulations for infrastructure resilience.
Teaching & Administrative Roles
- Graduate Advisor for the Mathematics in Science and Engineering program.
- IT supervisor for the Numerical Mathematics work group.
- Coordinating Postdoc for the IGSSE project INE2 (since 2022).
Software Expertise
Proficient in open-source tools like SPEED, waLBerla, Blender, gmsh, and GeoPDEs for numerical simulations and visualization.
