Markus Loepfe

Prof. Dr. Markus Loepfe is a Lecturer of Physics at the FHNW School of Engineering and Environment, where he also serves as Project Leader at the Institute for Sensors and Electronics and Outgoing Coordinator at the International Office. He has been with FHNW since 2011, combining academic instruction with research leadership and international program coordination.

His research focuses on applied physics with emphasis on sensor technologies, electronic systems, and aerosol science. Industrial expertise includes fire safety systems, gas detection methodologies, and security product innovation. Research outputs include multiple patents in smoke/gas detection technologies.

Prof. Loepfe leads projects at the Institute for Sensors and Electronics and coordinates international partnerships for the School of Engineering. His industrial background includes leadership roles at Siemens Building Technologies (Global Innovation Portfolio Manager) and Cerberus AG (Head of Research).
